Bio

Welcome to my page! This is my first year here at SJRCS. I have worked as a Catholic school educator for the past 13 years teaching middle school language arts, social studies, and religion. This year, I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade language arts.

I served as a National Junior Beta Club honor society sponsor for 12 years, and worked on committees for liturgy preparation, AdvancEd accreditation, and curriculum writing.

In the past, I have had the honor of serving novice teachers as a mentor teacher and mentor teacher trainer for The University of Notre Dame's A.C.E. (Alliance for Catholic Education) program.

I am actively involved with the National Catholic Educational Association. For the past two years, I presented at the NCEA annual conference, sharing my experience with reaching non-Catholic students in Catholic schools, as well as a peace and social justice program that was implemented at my former school.

Teaching Awards

2011 Alfa Insurance Alabama Teacher of the Month Award (September)

2004 The University of Notre Dame Excellence in Teaching Award

On a Personal Note...

I have been married for 13 years. My husband and I have a miniature schnauzer named Gretchen. We recently relocated to Maryland. I enjoy volunteering for animal-related organizations. I have volunteered for the Birmingham Zoo and the Shelby County Humane Society, and served as a junior board member for Hand-in-Paw Animal-Assisted Therapy.
